How the compression works
JPG and WebP files are re-encoded at the quality you choose. PNG files keep their transparency and are reduced by limiting the color palette, which works especially well for screenshots, logos and illustrations.
When compression won't help
Some files are already heavily optimized. If re-encoding would make a file larger, we tell you and keep the original instead, so you never download a worse result.
